Best Gaming Mouse

Greetings to the gaming web surfers out there who found their way to this webpage.  If you’re a gamer and have just started to look into getting a gaming mouse, this is a great blog.  If you’re a serious gamer and not new to the gaming mouse world, this is still a great place to read through, as it discusses some heavy hitters like the Cyborg gaming mouse and Razer Naga.

I am an avid gamer but not a serious heavy hitter, however, I’ll do my best to give the positives and negatives of each gaming mice that are the most popular and have the best reviews.  So sit back, read on and let me do all the research for you and give you the best and the worse of each mouse you’ll find in this blog.

Best Gaming Mice:

1.   Cyborg R.A.T. 7 Gaming Mouse: $75.99 on Amazon

Positives:

  • physically adjustable: add or remove weights, make it longer or shorter, adjust thumb rest, palm rests and pinkie rests (Who would’ve thought your pinkie would need a rest!)
  • pinpoint accuracy: low sensitivity with high movement speed…what’s even better…you can fiddle with it to get it the way you want it to be! (This would be really useful when moving around the screen, clicking furiously while trying to attack, defend and generally survive)
  • Powerful Cyborg® ST Programming Software allows for more adjustment for improved performance
  • its appearance (its different…very much a cyborg)
  • it works on the Mac platform! (whoop! whoop!)
  • good after sales service

Negatives:

  • only has 5 programmable buttons (you’ll definitely be left wanting more if you’re a serious gamer)
  • some customers found the laser/tracking system to be unreliable
  • ideal for gaming, not for your average day mouse use (it seems best to have 2 mice…one for gaming and one for everyday use)
  • its appearance (personally…from an aesthetic point of view…I am not to fond of the design)
  • bad after sales service
  • software adjustment is apparently only for the windows platform

2.   Razer Naga MMOG Laser Gaming Mouse: $ 69.62 (Let’s go kill some Naga!)

Positives:

  • love the look!
  • 7 foot cable (you can play from a distance)
  • 17 MMOG programmable buttons (WoW here we come!)
  • ergonomic (but not as adjustable as the Cyborg R.A.T. 7)
  • has the same amount of dpi as the Cyborg (5,600 dpi) so it has precision
  • Custom Interface AddOns for MMO Games ( Really…this mouse is for those of you out there that love WoW or games like it)
  • Thumb grid (where controls are at the mercy of your thumb)

Negatives:

  • this mouse has laser issues: they don’t work, not very precise, break soon after buying
  • customers say the customer service is just horrible (hopefully yours isn’t a lemon)
  • can take time to master using the keys on the thumb grid.
  • Not great if you want to use this mouse for day-to-day use.

3.   Logitech G500 Gaming Mouse: $57.90 on Amazon

Positives:

  • Easy access buttons to adjust the dpi (max is 5,700 dpi)
  • adjustable weights to make it lighter or heavier depending on your preference
  • has memory with no need for additional software
  • nice precision
  • more reviewers gave this a 4 and 5 stars than any of the others mentioned in the blog aside from the Razer Deathadder
  • okay for day-to-day mouse use compared to the others
  • 10 programmable buttons (nice but not as overwhelming as the 17 programmable buttons of the Razer)

Negatives:

  • not really ideal for marathon gaming the cyborg and the razer are both more ergonomic.
  • Other mice look aesthetically better
  • this looks like an ideal gaming mouse to begin with.
